Matia Island is also on our list of favourites being so close to Point Roberts where we moor (approx 35-40 min trip). The island is small and has a nice hike from the dock and sandy beaches of Rolfe Cove through beautiful old growth forests. If you’re lucky enough to find a mooring buoy or space on the dock, you won’t be disappointed. It can however be very busy during high season and anchoring is a challenge with the currents that rip through the bay. Overnighting on the docks can be noisy and a bit rough with the currents – a short trip over to Echo Bay would provide a peaceful night’s sleep (assuming no Easterlies)
